Quality Inspected Accommodation
The Blackpool tourism sector has taken a proactive stance with regard to quality. Many initiatives are taking place to improve and maintain quality standards in the resort and the most frequent initiative has been with regard to accommodation.
There is already an established harmonised scheme which the AA and English Tourism Council have all adopted. Their classifications are easily recognised by the 'stars' displayed outside. The symbols for guest houses are changing due to the introduction of Common Standards by VisitBritain. These plaques are usually displayed on the outside of each establishment or in the porch at the entrance.
Alongside the established scheme, Blackpool has introduced a local scheme simply called Quality (formerly know as HOAST), which is recognised by the English Tourism Council as a stepping stone towards the harmonised scheme. You will see plaques outside establishments.
The Blackpool Hotel and Guest House Association (t/as StayBlackpool) were instrumental in the development of the HOAST local accreditation scheme (now Quality).
You will see that members of this association will display a StayBlackpool plaque, which signifies not only that they are members but also shows they have been inspected and regularly re-inspected to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
The standards for both the local Quality scheme and this association deal with quality issues concerning furnishings, bathroom and toilet ratios, cleanliness, health and safety issues, general cleanliness and facility availability and other factors that contribute towards making your stay in Blackpool hotels a pleasurable one.
As a tourist destination, Blackpool wants to show its visitors that quality establishments are operating and striving to make the visitor stay a good one. Guests expectations can be met when they can book in confidence into quality branded hotels, guest houses and self catering apartments in Blackpool
