Out and About

Take a trip up Blackpool’s most famous landmark, The Tower, and sip tea on the terrace. Why not stroll along one of Blackpool’s three piers or just sit and enjoy the views.

Take time out to visit the Waxworks, Sea life Centre and all the other attractions, which continue to draw millions of visitors to the resort each year.

Enjoy all the fun of the fair at Blackpool’s world-renowned Pleasure Beach with exciting rides like the ‘Pepsi Max Big One’ and the ‘Infusion’.

Enjoy the seven miles of golden sand and bracing the Irish Sea. Bring your swimming costume as well, because even if it’s raining the newly refurbished Sandcastle Waterpark provides indoor sun and fun!

And there’s much more to Blackpool than the Seafront. Only ten minutes inland is Blackpool Zoo and nearby Stanley Park, with leisure activities to suit all ages from golf and tennis to boating and bowls.

As the sun goes down

Sample a comfortable meal in one of the many restaurants and cafes around the town – from a la carte to burgers and chips. There’s something to suit every palate and price.

Enjoy one of the many ends of pier shows to full blown productions at the Opera House. There are cabaret bars and pub entertainment as well as the thriving nightclub scene – the choice is yours.

Whilst every other resort in the country is closing their doors, Blackpool goes from strength to strength, as the glittering illuminations are switched on.

Light up your night

The greatest free show on Earth, Blackpool’s world famous illuminations, are kicked off at the end of August this year with a massive pop concert culminating in the grand ‘Switch On', and who knows who'll be turning them on this year!

Blackpool’s lights shine for nearly 70 nights and attract almost 8 million visitors. Take an open topped tram along the full stretch or stroll along the Queens Promenade on the North Shore and get up close and personal with the fantastic tableaux.

Visit the new laser lights on the recently renovated South Promenade and marvel at the Spectacular Mirror ball.

Blackpool illuminations come to life this year on 29th August and shine until 2nd November 2008.
